Wikis, Podcasting, and Digital Storytelling
Just finished another workshop by Jefferson County. I had another workshop on the "Wonderful World of Wiki's". It was lead by Elizabeth Whitehead from Technology in Motion. Still captivated by how simple and easy it is to create a wiki. LOVE IT! Found out that 3 teachers at McAdory Elementary have wikis. Now it's time for us all at McAdory to create a wiki. I plan to to teach it at an inservice on the first day back for teachers. Going to to try to convert the reluctant digital teachers to join us in the Digital World of Web 2.0. Also, I'm intrigued with podcasting. I'm really not into listening to my own voice but I LOVE to listen to children read their own stories and poems. I also went to a workshop on Digital Storytelling using Photo Story 3. I'm going to collaborate on this with the RLC /Ex. Ed teachers this year. This would be a great project for their students. Especially the speech teachers! What a unique way for their students to hear how their voice is heard as they read their stories.

NECC 2007
Last week, I attended NECC 2007 in Atlanta. What a mind blowing trip! I learned, and learned, and learned. Now it's time to start applying. Sooo, I began my journey. I first downloaded Mozilla Foxfire (which seems to be the web browser to use). Then I created a gmail account, a del.cio.us account(which is a way to save your favorite bookmarks on an online website so you can share your favorites with others ), a trailfire account, (this website lets you create a trail of website someone could follow - great for my elementary students), created a wiki, (a quick - and easy! - website where you and others can edit and share ideas) and now I've set up my own blog.
For those who learning about the new Web 2.0 like me, it is a new World Wide Web. I love all the social elements of it. My goal this year is to collaborate with my teachers at McAdory and bring them with me on this journey.
